History of Attorneys Title
-
Attorneys Title, formerly Commonwealth Land Title Company of North Carolina, was founded by Charles B. Davis, III, former President of AMIC Title Insurance Company. Under Davis Attorneys Title expanded to seven direct operations offices throughout North Carolina. Not only did Attorneys Title expand across the state, but they became known as the Attorney’s Title Company. For over twenty years, Attorneys Title has been serving the title insurance needs of both residential and commercial customers.
In July of 2006 Attorneys Title was acquired by United General Title, a subsidiary of First American. “The Attorneys Title team is one of the strongest around,” said Bryan Rosenberg, United General’s senior vice president and regional manager. “We’re continuing to grow our business in North Carolina and throughout the Southeast, and this acquisition is just one example of how we plan to do that successfully." Operations in North Carolina will continue to operate under the Attorneys Title name. Due to the additional resources available as a result of the acquisition, Attorneys Title has solidified itself as the title company preferred by attorneys in North Carolina.

History of United General Title
In February 2005, United General Title Insurance Company became part of First American Title Insurance Company, operating as a distinct and separate brand. United General is one of the fastest growing title insurers with a national scope, dedicated to increasing the productivity and profitability of its agents and customers. And now, with the added financial strength of First American, United General is able to offer many new exciting products and services to its customers. The Company's services are marketed through a network of carefully selected agents and direct offices representing 42 states and the District of Columbia.
United General was formed in the State of Louisiana in 1983 as a subsidiary of a national financial services company. Townsquare Title Services, Inc. purchased United General from its previous owner in 1996 and redomesticated the company to Colorado in 1999. In order to provide the best possible service, the Company has continued to grow and expand its exceptional agency base and geographic coverage. Over the past year, it acquired additional state licenses in Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota; signed outstanding new agents to the United General network; and added some extraordinary people to the United General support staff.
As a rapidly growing participant in the industry, United General Title Insurance Company understands why lenders who finance commercial and industrial projects valued at hundreds of millions of dollars require associations with title insurance companies possessing sizable and stable financial statements. United General recognizes that a title insurance company must have sufficient reserves to cover retained liability along with a strong financial position. It accomplishes this through proper management of its capital and surplus, and maintenance of appropriate reserve levels. Additionally, United General has a reinsurance agreement in place with First American, that significantly increases United General's capacity to issue policies on the largest commercial transactions.
Furthermore, United General has undergone rigorous, quantitative analysis by Demotech, Inc., a financial analysis and actuarial firm independent of the insurers it reviews. In 2005, Demotech rated United General Title Insurance Company: "A' A Prime. Unsurpassed. Strongly recommended for commercial real estate transactions."
United General Title Insurance Company is a title insurance company owned and managed by title professionals. In fact, the Company has some of the most knowledgeable staff in the industry available to guide and assist its agents and customers at a moment's notice. When you deal with a United General agent or employee, you may rest assured you are receiving the best possible service. United General agents are not only screened for experience, financial strength, and knowledge - but for their ability to provide exceptional service and timely client support. This service is backed by United General's underwriting and management staff, which represents centuries of experience in title insurance, legal applications, and real estate transactions.
